Welcoming a newborn baby into the home is always a joyous occasion. And for many couples, because their dog is their first baby, they make sure to provide extra love and reassurance to their pet so that they will bond with their new little brothers or sisters!
For John and Morgan Powell they knew their one-and-a-half year old Bernese Mountain dog would be the best big sister for their newly-arrived baby girl, Kylie.
John told DogHeirs that Baylor has always been affectionate with children and small dogs. He sharеd these wonderful photos of Baylor and Kylie together, along with the story of their first meeting and what happened in the weeks that followed. Hint: the two siblings adore each other!
“Ever since Baylor was a puppy, she has always loved kids and smaller dogs,” said John. “Whenever she sees a kid, all she does is perk up and wants to play!”
“She is the most loving dog, and will always follow us wherever we are.”
“When Kylie was born on August 23rd, we brought home her hospital hat, so Baylor could smell who was soon to be coming home.”
“I believe this was a very important step to not cause jealously for when Kylie came home.”
John told DogHeirs, “When they first saw each other, we knew they would be best friends. Baylor immediately welcomed her with lots of sniffing and kissing.”
“Ever since then, Baylor seemed to never leave her side. When Kylie cries, Baylor comes right to her side and makes sure everything is OK. Kylie loves the licks she gets from Baylor which always puts a smile on her face.”
“We had a new born photo-shoot, and while we were prepping for a family photo, we were setting Kylie up on the bed, and Baylor jưmреd onto the bed while laying head right on her,” John told DogHeirs.
“It was a picture perfect photo, as Baylor would not leave her eyes off of the Photographer and Kylie smiled right away.”
“Before we know it, Kylie will be watching Jungle Book and playing Babaloo with her big sister. I hope you have enjoyed our story as much as we have lived it.”
